Buypass ID-Keys (Passkeys / Fido2 Key ) is certified according to eIDAS regulations and self-declared in Norway in accordance with the Self-Declaration Regulations. See NKOM's list of self-declared eID schemes.

Devices used for generating Fido2 Keys keys are part of the certification.

Buypass uses FIDO Alliance Metadata Service.

The FIDO Alliance Metadata Service (MDS) is a centralized repository of for the Metadata Statement that is used by the relying parties Buypass and other trust service providers to validate authenticator attestation and prove the genuineness of the device model. MDS also provides information about the certification status of the authenticators , and found any security issues . Organizations deploying FIDO Authentication are able to use this information to select specific certification levels as required for compliance, and work through the security notifications to ensure effective incident responsefound. For ID-Key authentication, Buypass has implemented the use of MDS to select the certification level required to comply with the requirements of eIDAS.
