Installation - first time and update

(lightbulb) This information is written in English only.

Install wizard – first time installation

Run setup application: SetupLraClient.msi and go through the installation steps.

Default BAM-client setup folder is:

Windows x32 – Program Files\Buypass\Buypass Access Manager

Windows x64 – Program Files (x86)\Buypass\Buypass Access Manager

Due to UAC settings, at the start of installation process (after pressing Install button or choosing Complete installation type – see below), a popup window with “Do you allow ... to do changes to your computer” will be showed. Say YES.

During running of install wizard program the following checks are done:

  • Checks if .net framwork is installed. If not, you will get a possibility to download and install it here during setup
  • Checks if an earlier version of .net BAM-client is installed on this BAM-PC. If, old version will be uninstalled before new version is installed
  • Existing configuration files will stay unchanged, not deleted or overwritten, during new installation. You will be able to reopen old LOCAL and MASTER config-files and change these if necessary due to new BAM-version
  • If already active the PinPad service this will be stopped automatically before installing new version of client. The install wizard program also will restart the PinPad service automatically. If any problem stop and start it manually in the START-menu / Services

Typical installation contains all components except Remote functions – that is functions used from remote location in communication between User and Operator.

Custom installation will give possibility to install BAM with limited functionality or all functions choosing between predefined components *)

Complete installation contains all components.

If you choose Custom you get a list of functions and are able to choose which one(s) to install. Click the little arrow on the right-hand side of the symbol on chosen function line.

Turn ON: “Entire feature will be installed on local hard driver”

Turn OFF: “Entire feature will be unavailable”

*)
From v3.5 it is possible to choose to set up a client configuration by picking among all functions in main- and sub menues.
From v3.6 this way of configering also supports starting the client using only the pheriperals which chosen functions requiers.

Example: A setup with PIN-Administration only requiers Operator and User cardreaders and the PinPad.
A setup with Revoke certificates, Remote functions and PreRegistration/Batch preregistration requiers Operator cardreader only.

Clicking Next you will be asked about ACR88/89 or Secure PinPad.

(warning) Choosing ACR88/89 a Service will be installed in order to support smartcard communication. This is not needed for Secure PinPad.

Clicking Next and you are ready to install.

Clicking Install the installation starts.

On completion, you get a “receipt”.

Ticking ON/OFF the Launch Configuration wizard the Configuration Application client will/will not start when clicking Finish.

Install wizard – upgrade of new version

Run setup application: SetupLraClient.msi and go through the installation steps.

Default BAM-client setup folder is:

Windows x32 – Program Files\Buypass\Buypass Access Manager

Windows x64 – Program Files (x86)\Buypass\Buypass Access Manager

We don’t have a special upgrade possibility, but you will when running "first time installation" where you are going from one version to the next get the same steps as if it is a "first time setup". See description above.

The difference is that during new version installation we uninstall previous version and install new using previous version selected functions. It means that you don’t need to choose which functions should be installed every time. If you want to have the same functions included in new version as in previous version then you just press Custom button during new installation. Previously installed version features will be selected as “Will be installed…”.

If you press Typical or Complete buttons the previous version setup will not be used, but a new set of functions selected based on button pressed.

Later on, when you are running setup for same version you will get a slightly different view:

Change – lets you change the way features are installed – that is to add or remove features in the client *)

Repair – repairs errors in the most recent installation by fixing missing and corrupt files, shortcuts and registry entries

Remove – removes BAM-client from your computer

If you choose Change you get a list of functions and are able to choose which one(s) to install. Click the little arrow on the right-hand side of the symbol on chosen function line.

Turn ON: “Entire feature will be installed on local hard driver”

Turn OFF: “Entire feature will be unavailable”

Clicking Next and you are ready to install changes.

If you choose Repair or Remove and clicking Next you are ready to Repair or Remove.

On completion you get a “receipt”.

Here you will need to start the Configuration Application manually to change some of the former values in LOCAL and MASTER configuration files.
